Timothy Roscoe Carter was born in Roanoke, Virginia in 1969 and currently lives in San Francisco with a wife and three children. Tim has a law degree, a Master's of Science in Taxation, and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Tim has been a professional advocate for poor people's right to an income since 2000, becoming an attorney representing social security and SSI disability claimants. Tim has been a public advocate for a basic income guarantee since 2004, and is now the Clinic Director and Qualified Tax Expert of the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at the Justice and Diversity Center.
